Boland, Gerald F. “Jerry”, 83, Gibsonia, PA, formerly of Cresson, died December 12, 2019 at St. Margaret Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA. He was born March 26, 1936 in Cresson, son of the late Harold J. and Savilla A. (Sellers) Boland. On June 6, 1964 he married Mary Judith "Judy" Bishop at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Cresson. Surviving are his wife of 55 years; two daughters, Bonnie and son-in-law, Rodney D. Mallory of Raleigh, NC; Anne and son-in-law, John P. Harris III of Gibsonia; six grandchildren: Mitchell, Allison, Megan and Luke Mallory of Raleigh, NC; and John P. Harris IV and Hunter A. Harris of Gibsonia; sister, Mary Ellen Kelly of Bethlehem; sister-in-law, Rose Boland of Potomac, MD; sister-in-law, Debbie Bishop of Bedford; and brother-in-law, Tim Bishop and wife, Joyce of Greenville, NC. He was preceded in death by an infant brother, John Joseph; and siblings: Robert (Geraldine), Virginia (Ira Bradley), Miriam (Dale Bartlebaugh), Betty (Thomas Link), J. Harold and first wife Bernice, Donna Mae (Robert Delozier), Clifton (Joyce), and brother-in-law, Jack Kelly. Jerry was a 1954 graduate of Cresson Joint High School and a 1958 graduate of Indiana University of Pennsylvania with a BS degree in Music. He taught in the public school system for 46 years, which included marching band, chorus, and general classroom music at Penn Cambria School District. When the jointure was formed in 1966, Jerry composed the music for the Penn Cambria Alma Mater. He was known lovingly by his many students throughout these years as “Mr. B.” He served with the Pennsylvania National Guard and was a member of the 28th Division Band. He was a lifelong member of the Catholic faith and was a church organist and choir director for many years. Friends will be received Sunday, December 15, 2019 from 2-8 p.m. at Anderson Family Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 233 Keystone Avenue, Cresson. A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, December 16, 2019 at 10:30 a.m., St Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Rev. Leo Arnone, celebrant. Committal will be at the church cemetery.
