Schettig , Rebecca “Becky” L., 66, Cresson, passed away on August 22, 2019 at her home. She was born on November 20, 1952 in Washington, D.C., daughter of the late Edward C. and Loretta T. (McCartney) Yarnish. Preceded in death by her sister, Roberta Ann (Yarnish) Weldon. She is survived by her husband of 43 years, Bruce Schettig of Cresson; daughters, Roberta Schettig and husband, Tommy A. Williams of Cresson, and Anne Schettig of San Francisco, California; brothers, Mark Yarnish of Tucson, Arizona, John J. Yarnish of Seattle, Washington; and sister, Carolyn Nearhoof of Cresson. Becky moved into the Mountain House Grounds in Cresson in 1955 and lived in that area her entire life. She graduated from Bishop Carroll High School, class of 1970. She worked as a junior accountant for FL Smithe Machine Company for over 30 years. She was the lone “roadie” for her husband Bruce, as he played his guitar traveling around the local area, across the USA to Arizona and Washington and over to Italy. She would never hesitate to give him suggestions on how to improve his show or just plain give a thumbs up for a great performance. They were quite a traveling pair. She was a wonderful mother to her daughters and kept the door open to all of their friends who came into her home to visit, get a meal, or a good cup of coffee. Becky was an encyclopedia of family stories and family history. If you couldn’t recall a fact she had the answers with facts, dates and juicy circumstances. She was a regular attendee at McCartney reunions and attended each one until the last few years when her health was in decline. She believed what she believed and when asked, and sometimes when not asked, she spoke her mind. Oh and she was fun. She loved to play a practical joke and she could tease with the best of the Yarnish family. In the last month of her illness she spent her time at home surrounded by family and friends. She had the opportunity to visit with her brothers and sisters, cousins, relatives, neighborhood friends she grew up with, and many of her close friends. Becky will be missed and remembered as a good person, faithful wife, mother, sister, cousin, aunt, and friend. Friends and family will be received Thursday, August 29 from 2-6 p.m. at Kennedy-Anderson Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 233 Keystone Ave., Cresson. A memorial Mass will be celebrated Friday, August 30 at 10 a.m., St. Aloysius Catholic Church, Monsignor Michael Becker, celebrant. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation or to John’s Way Medical Equipment Ministry. Arrangements handled by Kennedy-Anderson Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Cresson, “Honored Provider of Veterans Funeral Care™.” Condolences may be made at AndersonFamilyFuneralHomes.com
