Prebish, John "Ox" J., Sr., 75, Cresson, went home to be with the Lord, September 18, 2018 at UPMC Altoona. Born July 11, 1943, Cresson, son of the late Peter and Mary L. (Padilla) Prebish. Preceded in death by brother, Paul Prebish; and sister-in-law, Linda Prebish. Survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Priscilla “Patti” (George) Prebish; children, Pattilynn Harris and husband, P.J.; John, Jr. and wife, Lisa (Patterson); Melissa Plazek and husband, Jeff; ten grandchildren, Billy (Lacie) Borlie, Becky (Dustin) Oldham, Tyler Prebish, Bailey Prebish, Jeremy Harris, Justin Harris, Malia Prebish, Hannah Plazek, Mackenzie Harris, and Connor Plazek; four great-grandchildren, Kayden Snyder, Nicky Gillespie, Bentley Oldham, and Lucas Borlie; brother, Robert Prebish; brother-in-law, Joseph (Gloria) George; and sister-in-law, Kathy Prebish. John was a graduate of Cresson Joint High School. He served in the U.S. Air Force. John was a heavy equipment mechanic and operator, and was a member of the IBEW Local #126. He retired in 2005 after 36 years of service. John was a member of Holy Family Parish, Portage. John was a standout football and basketball player. He turned down numerous college offers to serve our country. He was an avid sports fan, but lived for football season watching the Steelers and Penn State. John enjoyed camping and boating for many years, but most importantly he loved spending time with his family, especially his grandkids. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother. Friends and family will be received Thursday, Sept. 20 from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at Kennedy-Anderson Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 233 Keystone Ave., Cresson. A funeral mass will be celebrated, Friday, Sept. 21 at 11 a.m., Holy Family Parish, 509 Caldwell Ave., Portage, Fr. Thomas F. Stabile, T.O.R., celebrant. Burial St. Aloysius Church Cemetery, Cresson. Military honors will be conducted by the Cresson & Loretto American Legions, Sankertown VFW, and other local veteran organizations. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to either of the veterans organizations listed above. Arrangements handled by Kennedy-Anderson Funeral Home & Cremation Services.
