i¿½i¿½Byrnes, Catherine E., 98, Cresson, died April 5, 2015, at home. Born Oct. 23, 1916, in Sankertown, daughter of the late Edward and Mary (Kearnes) Hammond. Preceded in death by husband, Robert L.; brothers, James, Walter and Bernard; and sister, Alice Schnaubelt. Survived by children: Alice Basal (Gerald), Duncansville; Mary Ann Gailey (Bud), East Freedom; and Robert (Sarah Krug), Loretto; 9 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren; sister Esther Spinner (George), Sankertown; and sister-in-law, Helen Hammond, Cresson. Member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church, and its Legion of Mary; and Cresson American Legion auxiliary, Post 238. Friends received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Charles M. Kennedy Funeral Home, Cresson, where Legion of Mary will recite the rosary at 3 p.m., followed by vigil for the deceased. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Aloysius Church, Very Rev. Father John D. Byrnes. Committal, St. Francis Xavier Cemetery. www.cmkennedyfh.com
