Daniel Jay Seilhamer Sr.

Seilhamer, Daniel Jay Sr., 65, Mount Union, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family on Tuesday May 7, 2024, to be with the Lord, after a long battle with cancer. Born March 7, 1959, Huntingdon, son of the late John E. and Nellie M. (Fortney) Seilhamer. Survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Debra S. (Smith) Seilhamer; 2 children, Daniel J. “DJ” Seilhamer, and Crystal J. (Dimoff) Seilhamer and companion, Warren I. Morgan III; 3 grandchildren, Austin Dimoff, Keira Dimoff and Gabe Atherton; siblings, John H. Seilhamer, Nancy V. (Seilhamer) Ross, both of Shirleysburg; Joel E. Seilhamer and wife, Patricia (Beiber), Mount Union; Rose A. (Seilhamer) Starr and husband, William, Shade Gap; and brother-in-law, John Ross, Ducansville; and he was blessed with 88 nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by a sister-in-law, Ruth (Detwiler) Seilhamer; niece, Nellie (Seilhamer) Devlin; and twin niece and nephew, Haven and Tavin. Dan was a 1977 graduate of Mount Union Area High School. He worked many years as a carpenter/mason with Daniel B. Whitsel Contracting, Seilhamer Construction before retiring from IFC Services in their maintenance department. Dan was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was a pure stock race car driver in the late 80s and early 90’s, driving the number 13 at Hill Valley Speedway and Path Valley Speedway. He enjoyed sprint car racing, boxing and UFC. Dan was a Penn State Wrestling and football fan. He was a member of the Fort Shirley Lions Club for 47 years. A member of the F&AM Lodge 688 Mount Union, the Jaffa Shriners, and the Scottish Rite. Dan attended the Vineyard Outreach Center and was a faithful man of God. A true testimony to all who knew him. He is most known for his kindness and generosity to give and help others and put smiles on faces with his remarkable jokes. Most of all he loved spending time with his family and his lifelong friend he called his brother, Dennie Cramer. He looked forward to his family reunions and get togethers. No funeral services will be held per Dan’s request. Interment will be at the Germany Valley Church of the Brethren Cemetery, Shirleysburg. A celebration of life will be held later at the family’s convenience. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to the Vineyard Outreach Center, 17979 Croghan Pike Shirleysburg, PA 17260 or the Fort Shirley Lion’s Club, 17074 Croghan Pike, Shirleysburg, PA 17260.
