Proudfit, Dennis R. "Rick", 68, Cresson, welcomed into the arms of his son, John, on Feb. 16, 2017, at UPMC-Altoona. Born May 12, 1948, in Altoona, son of the late Russell and Helen (Nagle) Proudfit. Preceded in death by sons, John and Robert; father and mother-in-law, Joseph and Elda Harber; niece, Christine Little; and nephews, Eric and Brian Buck. Survived by wife, Diane (Harber), whom he married May 30, 1970, in Cresson; children: Toni Green (Charlie), Cresson; Michael (Tammy), Altoona; Erica Rodriguez, Cresson; Stephen (Courtney), Lilly; Danielle Moses (Joe Cameron), Ebensburg; and Todd (Summer), Cresson; daughter-in-law, Lisa Proudfit Straw (Lee), Loretto; 16 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, with a grandson to be born in July, and a great-granddaughter to be born in May. Also survived by friend and business partner, Randy Soisson, Cresson. Brother of Sharon Kessler, Melcroft; Russell Jr., So. Carolina; Theresa Schoenweis (Greg), Beaver Falls; and Mary Ann Yeckley (William), Maryland. Army veteran of the Viet Nam War. Self-employed plumber, and co-owner of R & R Plumbing, Cresson, for 25 years. Former Cub Scout Master in Cresson for many years. Member of Cresson Sportsman's Club; Sankertown V.F.W., where he was currently serving on the board of directors; and St. Francis Xavier Parish. Rick was an avid hunter, fisherman and gardener. He enjoyed spending time with his dog, Lacie, and with his buddies at the V.F.W. Family and friends received from 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday and from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Charles M. Kennedy Funeral Home, Cresson, where vigil for the deceased will be held. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Rev. Leo Arnone.
