Davis, Elmer Earl “Sock”, 93, West Township Petersburg, passed away Tuesday October 1, 2024, at home surrounded by his family. Born June 26, 1931, at Peaceful Terrain Farms, Petersburg, son of the late E. Earl and Virginia (Gensimore) Davis. He was united in marriage to the former Marcella Mitchell on February 19, 1960. In addition to his wife of 64 years, he is survived by his children, Janet Davis and companion, Dave Campbell of Huntingdon; Doris Runk and husband, Brian of James Creek; David Davis of Petersburg; 5 grandchildren, Thomas Davis, Katie Runk, Dustin Runk and wife, Kris; Hanna Court and husband, Brandon; Dewey Runk and wife, Brianna; 12 great grandchildren, Brycen Sheffield, Dayton, Digger, Brave and Doomy Runk, Paizlee, Rivor, Ivori, and Navi Court, Audri Esther, and Elmer Runk; and many beloved nieces and nephews. Also surviving is a sister, Mary Ann Metz. Preceded in death by a sister, Margaret McGargle and a brother, James H. Davis. Elmer was a lifelong member of the Petersburg Bethel Presbyterian Church and served on many church boards and was a trustee of the Mooresville Cemetery Association. He was a lifelong farmer, master welder and mechanic. In his early years Sock enjoyed going on farming and hunting trips. Sock also enjoyed sharing stories with all his visitors and was able to do so in the last weeks of his life. He was a beloved father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle and great uncle.
