Getz, Erman P., 96, Kistler, passed away August 9, 2019 at home. Born September 5, 1922, Mapleton Depot, son of the late Arthur and Edna (Flasher) Getz. Preceded in death by his son, Randy Getz; companion, Delores Rabenstein; five grandchildren; and three sisters and five brothers. Survived by his children, Allen Getz and wife, Brenda, Huntingdon; Sharon Cox and husband, Terry, Allenport; Dennis Getz; Kathy Wright, both of Kistler; and Bobbi Goshorn, Newton Hamilton; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and 12 great-great-grandchildren. Erman served as a Private in the U.S. Army during WWII. He participated in the Naples-Foggia, Rome-Arno, Southern France, Rhineland, and Central Europe campaigns where he received the Purple Heart Medal, five Bronze Stars and Arrowhead Device. Erman was a member of the Beech Run Church of the Brethren, Mount Union VFW Post 5754 and American Legion Post 107. He enjoyed fishing and bow hunting. Erman was always there to lend a helping hand for anyone that need it. Friends are invited to attend the Memorial Service on August 15 at 11 a.m., Heath-Anderson Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 61 E. Shirley St., Mount Union, Pastor Joe Barrett, officiant. Military honors will be provided by the VFW and American Legion Honor and Color Guard. Inurnment Bowmans Chapel Cemetery.
