Marlin, George Wayne, 77, Hollidaysburg, passed away October 13, 2021 at UPMC Altoona. Born September 27, 1944, son of the late George Washington and Mildred Marie (Wertz) Marlin. Preceded in death by his sisters, Betty Lynch and Joan Butler. Survived by his children, Vaughn (Crystal) Marlin, Duncansville; Christian Marlin, Hollidaysburg; Patrick Marlin, Altoona; Pamela (Erasmo) Diaz-Marlin, Altoona; and Georgia Marlin, Hollidaysburg; 12 grandchildren; and sisters, Vivian Ritchey, Imler; and Sue (Charlie) Strayer, Claysburg. George was a veteran of the US Army during the Vietnam era and earned the rank of PFC. He was paratrooper and a light weapons infantryman with the 505th Infantry Regiment, which was one of four infantry regiments of the 82nd Airborne Division. George was a member of the Altoona Horseshoe Chorus and the Barbershop Quartet. He was a licensed pilot and also a licensed scuba instructor. George enjoyed photography and was a train enthusiast. He founded, published and contributed articles to Altoona Blair County Magazine. Most importantly, he loved spending time with his family. At George’s request, there will be no services.
