Fisher, Helen (McMullen), 93, Mapleton Depot, passed away peacefully Sunday January 19, 2020, surrounded by her family. Born May 17, 1926, Mount Union, daughter of the late Melvin G. and Blanche (Welch) McMullen. Preceded in death by her loving husband, Donald J. “Flick” Fisher, whom she married on December 21, 1946, following his return from World War II; infant daughter; and daughter-in-law, Jana Fisher. Survived by children, Donna Krouse and husband Tom, Lock Haven; Karen Fisher and companion Richard Endres, Huntingdon; Lisa Taylor and husband Eugene, Marmora, NJ; and Jon Fisher, Huntingdon; 7 grandchildren, Steve Krouse and wife Leslie, Lock Haven; Stephanie Powell and husband Chris, Easton; Tricia Vaughan, Saxton; Gene Taylor and wife Danielle, Longport, NJ; Laura Taylor, Boston, MA; Elise Fisher, Huntingdon; Jonna Fisher, Huntingdon; 2 step-grandchildren, Joseph Rhone and wife Brooke; Wesley Rhone; and 8 great-grandchildren. Helen was employed by the Mount Union Area School District for 40 years where she held various positions, most recently as secretary of Shirley Township Elementary. She found joy in her job and dealing with multiple generations of students. Helen could rarely go anywhere in Huntingdon County without running into a student. Helen and “Flick” were founding members of the Mapleton Community Swimming Pool. Helen enjoyed her roll of being a mother and taught her children the value of serving their community. She volunteered her time to help fundraise for the American Legion, Mapleton Fire Company, Easter Seals, American Cancer Society, Mount Union High School Band, Mount Union Little League, and Mapleton Community Swimming Pool, to name a few. Helen was a lifelong member of the Trinity United Methodist Church in Mapleton. She loved to travel, attend her grandchildren’s sporting events and functions. Helen loved to spend time with family, friends and her Pomeranian, Abby. Friends and family will be received Friday, January 24, 2020 from 6-8 p.m. with a service on Saturday, January 25, 2020 at 1 p.m. at the funeral home, Joseph Barrett, officiant. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Trinity United Methodist Church, 520 Grant Street, Mapleton Depot, PA 17052 or the Mapleton Community Swimming Pool, P.O. Box Pool, Mapleton Depot, PA 17052. Arrangements have been entrusted to Heath-Anderson Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 61 E.
