Rose, James A., 91, Cresson, died Feb. 9, 2015, at UPMC Altoona. Born Nov. 15, 1923, in Cresson, son of the late James and Anna (Hall) Rose. Preceded in death by sisters, Carrie, Mary Lena, Marian, Verna and Katie; and brothers, John, William and Paul. Survived by wife, Catherine "Kate" (Bono), whom he married Feb. 7, 1948, in Revloc; sons, James A. Jr., Mark,and Damian; 4 grandchildren; and sister, Christine Rheim. Army veteran of World War II. Retired from Bethlehem Steel, Johnstown, after 36 years of service. Member of St. Aloysius Parish; American Legion, Post 233; and Senior Citizen's, all of Cresson, and Sankertown V.F.W., Post 7377. Friends received from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Charles M. Kennedy Funeral Home, Cresson, where Legion of Mary will recite the rosary at 5 p.m. followed by vigil for the deceased. Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, Very Rev. Father John D. Byrnes. Entombment, St. Francis Xavier Mausoleum.
