Swope, Janet (Fetterolf), 89, Mount Union, left her earthly life on Friday November 15, 2024, at Nottingham Village Retirement Center, Northumberland PA. She spent the last year and half at Nottingham enjoying new friends and wonderful care. Born December 6, 1934, Huntingdon, beloved daughter of the late Richard S. and Anne (Hackman) Fetterolf. She graduated from Mount Union Area High School in 1952 and then attended Penn State University. Preceded in death by her loving husband, Vincent C. Swope, whom she married in 1960. Survived by 4 children, who were the joy of her life, Diane Fasold and husband Cory, Sunbury PA; Jennifer Mitchell and husband Frank, Milroy; Laurie Beeler and husband Steven, Lancaster; and Richard Swope and wife Tammy, State College. Janet was blessed with 5 grandchildren, Richard Walter; Danielle Marsh and husband, Jeff; Linsey Fasold; Tanner Fasold; and Adam Swope. She also has 3 great grandchildren, Shawna Walter, Jada Walter, and Isla Marsh. Janet devoted her entire life to her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She cherished time with her family and never wanted to miss any sporting or musical activity or event. Everyone loved Janet because of her kind and pleasant demeanor, and she was often referred to as “mom” by many of her children’s friends. Janet was a life-long member of St. Luke Lutheran Church in Mount Union where she loved singing in the choir. She also served on the Church Council as secretary. She was also a member of the Order of Eastern Star. One of Janet’s greatest pleasures was caring for her family. She loved cooking and baking. She was known for her wonderful homemade bread and cinnamon rolls. She also loved making her special applesauce for her grandchildren. At Swope family reunions, she was known for her delicious baked beans. Janet and her mother, Anne, attended many professional baseball games in her youth and she continued that love of baseball throughout her life. She never missed watching a Pirates game! She also had a love for Penn State, making sure to never miss a football game or wrestling match, every season. During her final years at Nottingham Village Retirement Center, she made many new friends and discovered a love for playing BINGO. Janet will be so greatly missed by all her family and friends. Family and friends will be received on Friday November 22, 2024, from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m., at St. Luke Lutheran Church, 100 S. Jefferson St. Mount Union, PA 17066, Pastor Morelli, officiant. Interment to follow at Haven Rest Memorial Park, Shirleysburg. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Luke Lutheran Church, 100 S. Jefferson St. Mount Union, PA; or the Mount Union Fire Company, 15 E. Market St. Mount Union, PA; or the Mount Union Community Library, 11 W. Market St. Mount Union, PA. Arrangements have been entrusted to Heath-Anderson Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 61 E.
