Joseph E. Helton Sr.

Joseph E. Helton Sr. “Joe Bean”, 70, Mount Union passed Saturday, April 19, 2025, while doing what he loved with his son. Born August 21, 1954, in Huntingdon, he was the son of the late Isaac “Ike” Helton and Helen (Helton) Harris. Surviving are son, Joseph E. Helton, Jr., and wife, Brandi. He was “Pappy Joe” to granddaughter Brianna Helton. Also survived by his sisters Dorothea Helton and Diana Keiser; nieces and nephews, Desiree Taylor, Helena Helton, Barry Keiser, Hel’ton Helton, and Isaiah Helton; companion, Robin Gearhart and her daughters, Ashley Radle and Amber Welsh; as well as a host of great nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was a 1973 graduate of Mount Union Area High School and retired tradesman from New Enterprise Stone & Lime. Joe loved fast cars, cutting trees, and building things. He was an avid collector of “junk” and was always on the lookout for his next project - there wasn’t much he couldn’t fix. His hobbies included crushing cans, porch sitting and bragging about his son. Joe was known for his quick wit, tight wallet, and short temper. When he would say “let me tell you something” you could be certain you were about to get an earful. His boisterous personality and colorful vocabulary made him an unforgettable character. Those closest to him were privileged to also know his softer side. He had a generous heart and loved big. He will be fondly remembered for his king spirit and helping others. Whether you knew him as Joe, Joe Bean, Big Joe, Joe Daddy, Pappy Joe, or the guy at Mt. Union Beverage that always had a story to tell, he will be missed by all that knew him. Family and friends will be received on Saturday, May 3, 2025, for a visitation at the funeral home from 10 am until 12 noon. Arrangements have been entrusted to Heath-Anderson Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 61 E. Shirley St., Mount Union, “Honored Provider of Veterans Funeral Care™.” Condolences may be made at AndersonFamilyFuneralHomes.com
