Mabel J. Reed

Reed, Mabel J. (Allenbaugh), 90, Huntingdon, formerly of Mount Union, passed away Wednesday January 24, 2024, surrounded by her family at home. Born March 12, 1933, Hill Valley, daughter of the late Martin and Minnie (Hancock) Allenbaugh. Preceded in death by her loving husband, Fred K. Reed; siblings, Twila Mark, Bruce Allenbaugh, Martin Allenbaugh, and Catherine Morgan. Survived by son, Ted Reed and wife, Mary Ellen; daughter, Lori Dickson and husband, Brent; 5 grandchildren, Brooke Kopstale and husband Martins; Katie Dickson, Trevor Dickson, Jeremy Snyder and wife, Dana; and Jared Snyder and wife, Marianne; great grandchildren, Colt, Riley, and Blake; and a reared niece, Kay Dysard. Mrs. Reed was a member of the Cedar Crest Independent Baptist Church. She was a 1952 graduate of Captain Jack High School, Mount Union. Mrs. Reed was a former reading teacher at the Cedar Crest Christian Academy, Sunday School teacher, summer Bible study leader, and a key member of the church bus ministry. She enjoyed sewing, baking, gardening and reading her Bible—most of all she loved to spend time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Family and friends will be received on Saturday January 27, 2024, from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 12 noon, at the Cedar Crest Independent Baptist Church, 106 Pin Oak Ln, Mt Union, PA 17066, Pastor L. James Barton, officiant. A private interment will take place at Haven Rest Memorial Park, Shirleysburg.
