Swanger, Mary Madeline (Hawn), 100, Mill Creek, passed away Monday November 4, 2024, at Embassy at Woodland Park, Orbisonia. Born June 14, 1924, Mill Creek, daughter of the late Fred H. and Pearl M. (Querry) Hawn. Preceded in death by husbands, Joseph S. Danish and Frederick J. Swanger. Also preceded by brothers Guy Hawn and Miles Hawn; and a sister, Louise Rowe. Survived by daughter, Jean K. (Danish) Finkle; 2 grandsons, Michael W. Finkle and wife, Allyson; and Bradley C. Finkle and companion, Linda Zirkle; 6 great grandchildren, Andrew M. Finkle; Alexander W. Finkle; Jacob M. Finkle and wife, Alyssa; Joshua T. Finkle and wife, Erin; Nicole Szallar and husband, Michael; and Kayla Thoman; and great great grandchildren, Ayden and Hailey Szallar. Mrs. Swanger was a member of the Mill Creek United Methodist Church, which she joined in 1937, she was the oldest member. Mrs. Swanger was a graduate of Huntingdon High School where she was recognized for her perfect attendance record. She acted as an airplane spotter during WWII. She was employed by J.C. Blair Company and then later Mead where she retired after 42 years of diligent service. Mrs. Swanger was a member of the Standing Stone Senior Citizens and loved going on trips with them. She also enjoyed taking family trips to the beach. Family and friends will be received on Saturday November 9, 2024, from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m., at the funeral home, Pastor Raymond Crownover and Pastor Pat Shope, officiants. Private interment to follow at Mountain View Cemetery, Mill Creek. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to the Mill Creek United Methodist Church, 13216 Big Valley Pike Mill Creek PA 17060.
