Sloan, Paul J., 79, Cresson, went home to be with the Lord Wednesday, May 25, 2022 at his home. Born June 12, 1942, Lilly, son of the late John F. and Nora H. (McDonald) Sloan. Preceded in death by his son, Joshua Sloan; daughter, Kathleen Davis; sisters, Gwendolyn McCabe, Alice Einhorn, Mary Lou Sloan and Magadalyn Sloan; brothers, Michael, James and John Sloan; sister-in-law, Norma Sloan; and brothers-in-law, James McCabe, Robert Einhorn and Vaughn Williams. Survived by his wife of 56 years, Betty (Meiss) Sloan; daughter, Paula Wilson and husband, Ryan; grandsons, Steven Carpenter, Micky Sloan and Raymond Davis Jr.; great-granddaughter, Ellianna Carpenter; son-in-law, Raymond Davis Sr.; brothers, Patrick Sloan; Robert Sloan and wife, Joan; sisters, Judy Williams; Florence Eberhart and husband, Daniel; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Paul graduated from Lilly High School. After graduation, he joined the US Marine Corps serving during Vietnam and earning the rank of sergeant. After the military, Paul worked for Covington Buick in Silver Spring, MD. He then owned and operated Baker & Sloan Auto Body in Beltsville, MD. After his retirement he continued to work in various capacities as a maintenance man, working at St. Camillus in Silver Spring, MD and for John Paul II Manor in Cresson. Paul was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Teams of Our Lady, Cresson American Legion Post 238, and the Holy Name Council S.S., where is served as past president. Most importantly, he loved spending time with his family and working in his beautiful yard. A memorial Mass will be celebrated Tuesday, May 31, 2022 at 10 a.m., St. Aloysius Catholic Church, Fr. Leo Arnone celebrant. Committal with military honors provided by the Cresson American Legion, Sankertown VFW, and other local military organizations at St. Brigid Cemetery, Lilly. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to John Paul II Manor, 856 Cambria St., Cresson.
