Pyles, Richard Leroy, 98, Mount Union, passed away on October 26, 2020 at AristaCare at Woodland Park, Orbisonia. Born October 19, 1922, Mount Union, son of the late Harry and Ida (Stone) Pyles. Preceded in death by loving wife, Zella (Heclo) Pyles; and sisters, Esther Shaffer and Hazel Miller. Survived by daughter, Connie J. Cramer, Mount Union; granddaughters Kristal Swem and husband, Roy, Portsmouth Virginia; and Bree Whitsel and husband, Mark, Shirleysburg; and great-grandchildren, Jacob Swem and Caleb Whitsel. Richard was a veteran of WWII. He was employed for over 40 years for Harbison Walker Brick Yard in Mount Union. Richard was a member of the Free and Accepted Masons Lodge #688, the VFW Post #5754, and The American Legion Post #107. In his retirement, Richard enjoyed hunting and spending time with his friends and family. A private viewing will be held on October 30, 2020, at the funeral home, Pastor Jerry Wise, officiant. Interment to follow at the Mount Union Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association at Alzheimer's Association National Capital Area Chapter, 8180 Greensboro Drive, Suite 400, McLean, VA 22102 or to the American Heart Association at American Heart Association/American Stroke Association, 300 5th Avenue, Suite 6, Waltham, MA 02451.
