Evon, Ronald “Buster” J., 72, Loretto, passed away unexpectedly Sunday, August 7, 2022 at his home. Born January 17, 1950, Gallitzin, son of the late Andrew P. and Elizabeth J. (Halleran) Evon. Survived by his loving wife, Elaine A. (Marino); children, Heather Evon, Duncansville; Miche Harrison and husband Michael, Loretto; Chris Stevens and wife Amy, Loretto; and Shawn Stevens and wife Theresa, Lilly; 10 grandchildren, Owen, Aidan, Ashlin, Ándra, Zachary, Nate, Samantha, Jake, Ty, and Logan; 4 great-grandchildren, Léonie, Luca, John, and Quinn; sisters, Debbie Smith and husband Robert; and Lisa Pauley; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Buster was a veteran of the US Army where he served in Vietnam earning the rank of sergeant and receiving the Vietnam Service and Campaign Medals, and a Bronze Star Medal. He was a member of the Cresson American Legion, Sankertown VFW, Combat Vets, Lilly Sokals, Ebensburg Moose, Jamestown Rod & Gun Club, and the Benscreek Social & Citizens Club. Buster was always willing to help anyone he could, especially all of the veteran organizations he was a member of and held near to his heart. Most importantly, he cherished the time with his family and friends. A celebration of Buster’s life will be held on August 20, 2022 at 6 p.m. at the Cresson American Legion, where military honors will be provided by the Cresson American Legion, Sankertown VFW, and other local military organizations.
