Roseann M. Whitsel

Whitsel, Roseann M. (Melnyk), 84, Cedar Crest, went to be with the Lord on October 2, 2023, at home surrounded by her family. Born February 16, 1939, Mount Union, daughter of the late Samuel and Maria (Barchuk) Melnyk, Ukrainian immigrants from Austria. She was united in marriage to Jerry G. Whitsel on May 29, 1961. Mr. Whitsel preceded her in death on May 5, 2016. Also preceded in death by siblings, John, Frank, Michael, Sophia, Mary and Ann. Survived by children, David Whitsel and wife, Colette, Cedar Crest; and Patti Miller and husband, Pastor Chris, Wytheville, VA; 6 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Roseann was a 1957 graduate of Captain Jack High School in Mount Union. She was employed at the Nu Bridge Restaurant, Sylvania Electronics of Altoona, Robin Footwear of Mount Union, Dalco Industries of Mount Union and Hoss’s Steak and Seafood of Huntingdon. She was an excellent seamstress and enjoyed crafting. She loved all the traveling she shared with her husband during his time in the service with the United States Air Force as well as spending time with family. A private funeral will be held at the convenience of the family. Interment to be at Haven Rest Memorial Park, Shirleysburg.
