Cramer Sr., William Harvey, 96, Mount Union, formerly of Kistler, passed Thursday July 8, 2021, at Embassy at Woodland Park, Orbisonia. Born November 25, 1924, Mount Union, son of the late Harvey B. and Hilda (Miller) Cramer; and stepmother, Veda (Booher). Preceded in death by his loving wife, Dorothy May (Minnick) Cramer whom he married in 1946. Also preceding him in death are siblings, Paul, George, Joseph, Frank, Jack, and Clara Cramer. Survived by children, Dorothy B. Cramer, Snow Shoe; William H. Cramer Jr., Lewistown; Beverly J. Barben and husband, Rodney, McVeytown; David L. Cramer and wife, Nancy, York; and Sandra C. Moore and husband, Raymond, Mount Union; 11 grandchildren, Larry, Michael, Randy, Jessica, Shannon, Wendy, Patti, Laura, Jennifer, Adrienne and Dustin; and a number of great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Bill attended Mount Union Area High School and enlisted in the United States Army on May 28, 1943, serving in Company F, 106th Infantry Regiment, 27th Division. Mr. Cramer served in the Pacific during World War II and attained the rank of Corporal. He was a lifetime member of the Simpson-Hunt American Legion Post #107 in Mount Union. Mr. Cramer was employed at Harbison-Walker Refractories, the American Viscose Corp., and retired from Elco Corp. in 1987. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting and fishing. Mr. Cramer also enjoyed bowling, golfing, gardening, and woodworking. William always loved vacations to Lewes, Delaware and metal detecting on the beach. Friends and family will be received on Monday July 12, 2021, at the funeral home from 1 p.m. until the time of service at 2 p.m., with Pastor Gay Irwin and Rev. Dr. Ken Gundron. A private interment will be made at the Mount Union Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to UPMC Home Healthcare of Central PA and Family Hospice, 20 Sheraton Dr. Altoona, PA 16601.
