William B. Reed

Reed, William B. “Bill”, 86, McVeytown, passed away December 6, 2023, at Valley View Rehabilitation, Belleville. Born March 6, 1937, Atkinson Mills, son of the late Theodore and Verna (Kirby) Reed. Survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Betty L. (Sechrist) Reed. Also surviving are siblings, Thomas Reed and wife, Barbara; and Jane Pollock; and numerous special nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Preceded in death by siblings, Arlene Shupp, Jim Reed, Joseph Reed and Fred Reed. Bill was a 1956 graduate of Captain Jack High School. After school he was drafted and honorably served his country in the United States Army. He was a member of the Newton Hamilton United Methodist Church where he was a member of the Methodist Men’s Group. Bill retired from New Holland after 38 years of service as a welder. Bill liked baseball and football and always cheered on the Pittsburgh Pirates, Pittsburgh Steelers and Penn State Nittany Lions. He was an avid hunter and enjoyed being outdoors and was a member of the Atkinson Mills Sportsman Club. Most of all he loved to spend time with his family and friends. Family and friends will be received on Friday December 8, 2023, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. and again on Saturday December 9, 2023, from 11 a.m. until the time of service at 12 noon, at the funeral home, Pastor Faith Anderson, officiant.
