Green, Willie Edward, 81, Mount Union, peacefully went to be with the Lord November 18, 2020. Born July 17, 1939 son of the late James E. and Elizabeth R. (Richardson) Green. Preceded in death by sister, Loretta J. (Green) Wilson, brother, George Anderson Green, and sister-in-law, Doris Green. Survived by his loving wife, Joanetta L. (Byers) Green, whom he married on October 27, 1962 in New York. Willie is also survived by daughters, Linda Green-Shepherd and husband, Jeffery, Port Saint Lucie Florida; Yolanda Mock and husband, David, Columbus Ohio; son, Timothy Green and wife, Veronica, Dumfries Virginia; 3 grandchildren, Dominque Shepherd-Binns and wife, Tammy, Dominique Sanjurjo and Alexis Green; 3 great-grandchildren; brother, Elmer Wallace Green; brother-in-law, Theodore and wife, Juanita Byers; and sisters-in-law, Mary Green, Gloria Burke, Minnie Byers and many nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends. Willie was baptized on May 2, 1948 at the Mount Hope Missionary Baptist Church, Mount Union. Involvement in the church included, senior choir, men’s choir, Sunday school teacher, and trustee for many years. He was ordained as a deacon for the church in 1986. Willie was a 1958 graduate of Captain Jack High School where he was a member of the football, wrestling, and baseball teams. He went on to play semipro baseball in New York City. Willie was a member of the Free and Accepted Masons Lodge #125 in Mount Union. Over the course of his career he worked at Pennsylvania Sand and Glass, Harbison Walker Brick Yard, Mount Union High School, FCI, and the Mount Union Borough Police Department where he became Chief of Police. Willie also served his community as a volunteer firefighter and was awarded the Outstanding Fireman Award for heroic efforts during a house fire. In his free time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing and most importantly spending time with his family and friends. Friends and family will be received on Saturday November 21, 2020 from 11 a.m. until the time of service at 1 p.m. at the Mount Hope Missionary Baptist Church, 3 W Chestnut St, Mount Union, Rev. Herman Burks officiant. Interment to follow at the Mount Union Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to Heath-Anderson Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 61 E.
